The lush and green island called Havelock Island is also known as 'Swaraj Dweep Island'. It is situated in the South Andaman district, which lies on the eastern side of Great Andaman Island. It is 41 Km northeast of port Blair with an area of 92.2 square Km.

These island belongs to Ritchic Archipelago, located between Peel Island and Neil Island. Havelock Island is named after British General, Sir Henry Havelock. On 30th December 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi renamed this Island to Swaraj Island as a tribute to Subash Chandra Bose. Havelock is among few places that the Administration has focused on promoting Eco-Tourism and it also received the ‘Blue Flag’ Certificate in 2021 from Foundation for Environment Education in Denmark (FEE) to eco-friendly destinations.

One of Asia’s most popular and gorgeous beaches is situated here, which is known as Radhanagar beach. It was also awarded “ Best Beach in Asia ” back in 2006 and till now it is one of the top 10 beaches to visit in Asia.

How to get there :

One can vist to Havelock through Government operated ferries and private cruise. After reaching there , local buses are available which connects the jetty and village on hourly circuit.
